Empyrion Digital today broke ground on a 20MW, AI-ready data centre in Thailand, its first in the Land of Smiles. Here's what we know about it.

Bangkok data centre

The upcoming TH1 data centre is located in the Bang Na district in Bangkok, around 30 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. It will deliver 20MW of IT load across a 17,000-plus sqm site, configured as a multi-storey data centre, and is slated to go live in Q3 2027.

TH1 is purpose-built for hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprises, and is capable of supporting AI workloads. According to Empyrion Digital, power allocation has been secured.

It is worth noting that Bang Na is a low flood-risk zone with strong fibre connectivity, and is the site of several other major data centre operators.

MOU with TCCtech

Empyrion Digital has also entered an MOU with TCC Technology (TCCtech). The agreement will see TCCtech extend its fibre optic network into TH1.

This means customers in TH1 will benefit from TCCtech's access to eight Internet Exchanges and an ecosystem of over 50 networks.

On a roll

Singapore-headquartered Empyrion Digital has been on a roll as it expands rapidly across multiple markets in the region over the last couple of years. It opened a South Korea data centre in 2025, broke ground on a Taiwan data centre in January, and announced a 200MW campus in Johor in December.

While its data centres are generally modest in terms of capacity, Empyrion Digital is highly focused on sustainability and strategic locations. Its Korea data centre, for instance, makes use of the StatePoint Liquid Cooling System (SPLC), an advanced evaporative cooling system, and is located in Gangnam, in the economic hub of Seoul.
