STT GDC's Jakarta campus is getting a lot bigger. The data centre operator now says it has a long-term pipeline of more than 360MW of capacity there. The campus will support high-density, AI-ready workloads with next-generation platforms and liquid-cooling readiness, the company says.

A campus taking shape

In its announcement, STT GDC drew attention to the various data centres taking shape across its Jakarta campus. STT Jakarta 2, at 24MW, has launched, while STT Jakarta 3, also at 24MW, is topping out. Two larger 40MW facilities, STT Jakarta 5 and STT Jakarta 6, are at groundbreaking.

The campus is supported by an on-site high-voltage substation, which STT GDC says is the first to be energised for a data centre campus in Indonesia. According to the company, these milestones are part of a long-term development pipeline of more than 360MW of AI and IT capacity in the country.

Beyond the build

In an email, STT GDC also highlighted its Data Centre Laboratory Learning Centre, established in partnership with ATMI Cikarang, a private vocational college. The centre offers hands-on training using industrial-grade equipment, certified programmes with structured internships, and student placements of up to 10 months within STT GDC.

As data centre operators elsewhere are increasingly doing, STT GDC is also contributing to community initiatives. On this front, the firm pointed to a badminton facility and environmental programmes such as mangrove planting.

Earlier this year, KKR and Singtel acquired STT GDC. At the time, I noted that STT GDC has more than 100 data centres and 2.3GW of capacity. With a pipeline of this scale now taking shape in Jakarta, the question is whether the wider Indonesian market is set to follow.
