How do you pay for your online services? Here's one trick I use to save up to 20% each month.

In a nutshell: I pay annually for the discount. But get my credit card to bill me monthly instead.

**Credit card magic**

Many online services offer discounts of up to 20% for paying for a year. You know that. But paying a hefty up-front fee can be daunting.

Somewhere around 2020, I came across a service by DBS Bank that lets me split payments of more than SG$100 across 3, 6, 12 or 24 months. For free\*.

I promptly switched my Nest plan to annual payment - and split it to be paid over 12 months. Today I use this strategy for a handful of other online services.

Other banks in Singapore appear to offer similar schemes.

*\*There is an admin fee now, though I still save.*

**Depends on your preference**

Of course, your mileage will vary. This worked for me because:

- I have online services I know I'll keep using.
- I want to track the monthly cost of these services.
- I go through my credit card bill line by line.

What about yourself? Do you have any tips on how to reduce your online services bill?
